New River Gorge (Fayetteville, Beckley): Summer is humid and afternoon storms are common; fall colour peaks in October and fills gorge lodging.
Greenbrier Valley (Lewisburg, White Sulphur Springs): Slightly milder than the rim; winter can bring ice and sudden temperature drops at higher elevations.
