Pick one cluster — New River Gorge and the Greenbrier Valley in the south, the Potomac Highlands and Monongahela National Forest in the east, or the Ohio Valley and Metro Valley in the west — and drive day loops from a single base. Crossing the state to tick off two clusters costs a full day of winding two-lane road.
