NevadaNevada, Ohio
Skip as a base: a village of about 760 people with no public transport and no verified lodging. Sleep in Upper Sandusky or Bucyrus and drive in for an hour.
Nevada is a small Wyandot County village on Ohio State Route 231, half a mile north of U.S. Route 30 between Upper Sandusky and Bucyrus. There is no public transport and no lodging in the village, so it works as a short drive-through stop — two churches, a village park, a handful of Main Street kitchens — not as a place to stay. Most travellers see it while crossing West Central Ohio by car, or use it as a fuel-and-food pause on the US-30 corridor.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Getting around
You need a car. There is no public transport in Nevada, and the village is rural — driving is easy. US-30 runs about half a mile south of town and is the fast east–west link; Ohio State Route 231 is the main road into the village and continues north toward Tiffin and south toward Marion and Columbus. Parking on Main Street: check locally.

Easy half-day; pairs with a US-23 run toward Columbus.

Worth the drive if you want a bigger stop than Nevada on the same highway.

Water-based half-day in warm months; check seasonal openings.

Long for a return day; better as an overnight on a westbound run.

Do it as part of an eastbound US-30 day, not a there-and-back.

Areas, not hotels: pick the one that fits your arrival time and plans.
Upper Sandusky (about 15 min west on US-30)
The nearest practical base: US-30 services and at least one chain motel on Comfort Drive, about 10 min from the US-30 exit. Best for one night passing through; check current room availability.
Bucyrus (about 15 min east on US-30)
Similar size to Upper Sandusky; motel availability is not confirmed here — check before you rely on it.
Mansfield (about 40 min east on US-30)
More rooms, more restaurants and the region's main attractions; the better base if you want two or three nights in the area.
Foxfire Campground, Crawford-Wyandot Road
Rural campground outside the village; seasonal, so check opening dates and hookups before you rely on it.
