Marshall is a small Madison County town on the French Broad River, about 30 minutes northwest of Asheville. Historic Marshall is one street — Main Street — with the river on one side and hills on the other, and most of the county's services sit a mile north along US 70/25. It works as a quiet overnight between Asheville and Hot Springs, or as a half-day stop for river and forest access.

  • No passenger train station in Marshall; the rail line past Main Street carries freight.
  • The northern strip along US 70/25 is over a mile from historic Main Street — walkable only if you have time and good weather.
