Malkangiri
Skip unless you have a specific reason: the district is remote, has Naxalite activity and limited tourist infrastructure. A half-day stop en route to Jeypore or Jagdalpur is enough.
Malkangiri is the southernmost district headquarters of Odisha, set in the Dandakaranya plains. It offers a few nature-oriented sights — a lake, a temple and two hydroelectric plants — but the area is known for ongoing Naxalite activity. Most travellers use it as a transit point between Odisha and Chhattisgarh rather than a destination.
