The North Shore is one road: Highway 17 between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, roughly 700 km of Canadian Shield, lake lookouts and small resource towns. It rewards drivers who stop, not drivers who pass through. Two days is a transit run; three to four days gives you Agawa, the canyon country and Terrace Bay without rushing. No train or bus covers the whole stretch usefully, so a car is the practical answer.
