  Mild winters (8–20 °C, chilly nights, a few rain days Nov–Feb); May–September runs 45–50 °C by day with warm nights; humidity rises in August and September on the coast. Shamal dust storms blow mainly June–July.

• Desert interior and north · Jahra, Mutla ridge, Mitribah, Abdalihot

  Drier and more extreme: freezing nights possible in January, and 53.9 °C was recorded at Mitribah in 2016. The north borders Iraq — keep away.
