Kisaran
Skip Kisaran unless you have a specific reason (train stop, business or visiting family). One night is enough if you pass through.
Kisaran is a transit town on the east coast of North Sumatra, about 4 h from Medan by train. It has a large mosque and a few local eateries, but no major sights. Most travellers use it as a stop between Medan and Tanjung Balai or Rantauprapat.
