The honest verdict

Kingstown is a busy, unpolished capital that most visitors use as a gateway to the Grenadines. A first visit fits in one long day. What goes wrong is the timing: the market is best on Saturday morning, shops close early and on Sunday, ferries stop by late afternoon, and the heat builds by 10:00. Four small areas cover the town on foot.
