Kashmarکاشمر

Half a day is enough to see the main sights: the tomb of Hassan Modares, the Jameh Mosque and a caravanserai. Use it as a stop between Mashhad and Birjand or Nishapur.

Kashmar (formerly Torshiz) is a small city in western Khorasan, 217 km south of Mashhad. Its draw is a handful of historic and religious sites — the tomb of a prominent cleric, a Seljuk-era mosque, a caravanserai — that can be seen in a few hours. Most travellers pass through on the road between Mashhad and Birjand or Gonabad.
