Kanyakumari district sits at the southern tip of mainland India, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean meet. It is famous for the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the Thiruvalluvar Statue and the sunset-sunrise over the sea. The district also has the Padmanabhapuram Palace, the Suchindram Temple and the hill station of Mondaikadu. Most visitors stay one or two nights, then move on to Kerala or back to Tamil Nadu.
