Johor Lama
Skip unless you are a history buff or passing between Kota Tinggi and Desaru: half a day for the fort museum and river views, no need to sleep.
Johor Lama is a small town on the Johor River, 30 km east of Kota Tinggi. Its main draw is the Kota Johor Lama Museum, which tells the story of the old Johor sultanate fort. The town has a mosque, a chalet and little else for travellers. Most visitors use it as a quick stop on the way to Desaru or Mersing.
