Iskandar Puteri is Malaysia's southernmost city, built from the 1990s around the Second Link to Singapore. It is suburban Johor Bahru and the state's administrative centre, so the draw is Legoland Malaysia plus Kota Iskandar and Puteri Harbour. Sights are spread over a wide, flat plain with thin public transport, so most travellers stay one or two nights with a car or Grab, or use it as a Johor Bahru add-on. It is hot and humid all year.

Getting around

Public buses run hourly or less and mostly head for central Johor Bahru. Driving is the easiest way to cover the spread-out sights; Grab works but can take a while to hail. Roads are wide and flat, parking is easy on weekdays, and the Second Link Expressway is the only tolled section.

  • The Second Link cannot be crossed on foot or by bicycle — motor vehicles only.

  • Forest City and parts of Puteri Harbour have half-built, empty developments — check before booking.
