The honest verdict

Granada is compact and hot, with everything a first visit needs inside a dozen cobbled blocks. The trips that go wrong arrive at Managua airport with no transfer arranged, or plan walks at midday. Four clusters cover a first visit: the square and cathedral, La Calzada, La Merced, and the San Francisco convent. Masaya volcano, Laguna de Apoyo and the lake islets are trips from one kept bed.
