The honest verdict

Saipan's west-coast lagoon holds the hotels, the beaches and the Managaha boats. Distances are short but public transport is minimal, so a taxi or hire car joins the clusters. Four clusters cover a first visit; the war sites in the north-east and the southern villages are car legs. Flights come mostly via Guam, Japan and Korea, are few, and stop in storms.
