Erongo is Namibia's coast plus the granite and desert behind it: Swakopmund and Walvis Bay for beds, seafood and fuel, Spitzkoppe and the Erongo Mountains for one or two nights under rock. The B2 is tarred and fast; the C-roads are gravel and fine in a sedan when dry. Base on the coast and drive out, or camp one night inland and keep the coast for the end.

Do not drive the C34 or any gravel road after rain: the salt-and-sand surface behaves like soap.
Desert elephants live in the Ugab riverbed in the north. Stay 10–15 m back, keep the engine off if an elephant shakes its head, and wait for it to walk away.
