Go for one night only if you want the outlet mall: sleep in Franklin or Indianapolis and drive in for a half-day of shopping.
Edinburgh is a small Indiana town of about 4,500 people on I-65, roughly 30 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis. Its one draw is a large outlet mall; there is no historic centre, no museum and no reason to base yourself here. Treat it as a shopping stop on the drive between Indianapolis and Louisville, and sleep in Franklin or Indianapolis instead.

You need a car. I-65 runs north to Indianapolis and south toward Louisville, and US 31 parallels it through Franklin. There is no useful local bus; the outlet mall and the motels sit on separate exits, so walking between them is not practical.
