Maryland's Eastern Shore is the Delmarva Peninsula side of Chesapeake Bay: flat farm roads, watermen towns, crab houses and one beach resort. Towns sit 20–60 minutes apart on US-50, so pick one base and drive out. Ocean City is the only place with a boardwalk, high-rises and winter nightlife; the bay side is small inns, marinas and quiet.

Ocean City in summer is a party beach: watch belongings on the boardwalk and around spring-break weekends.
Whitetail deer are common on farm roads at dawn, dusk and night, October to January especially.
Poison ivy, ticks, mosquitoes and chiggers are all present in summer; jellyfish appear in the bay in warm months.
