Skip Dalaman town as a base: use the airport, sleep at Sarıgerme beach 10 km south, or push on to Dalyan, Göcek or Fethiye.
Dalaman is an airport with a market town attached, not a resort. The town itself is a workaday place with a modern mosque, a few cafés and no stand-out sights; the beach and hotel strip sit at Sarıgerme, 10 km south. Most travellers who book a "Dalaman" holiday are coached straight out to Sarıgerme, Dalyan, Marmaris or Fethiye and never see the town. Treat it as a transfer point, or as a two-night beach stop if you want a quiet, all-inclusive base between the Lycian coast resorts.

- Havaş buses to Marmaris stop at the bus station and Ortaca but charge the full Marmaris fare.
- Package coaches marketed as "Dalaman" often go straight to Dalyan, Marmaris or Fethiye: check which resort your hotel is actually in before booking transfers.
- Many Sarıgerme resorts are seasonal and close outside roughly May–October: confirm opening dates before booking a winter trip.
- Summer heat and mosquitoes near the lagoon and river plain: pack repellent and plan beach time for early morning or late afternoon.
