  • Pavements are narrow or missing: bring a carrier, not a stroller, outside malls and hotel grounds.
  • Galle Face Green in the early evening is open, breezy and has snack stalls — the easiest outdoor stretch for children.
  • Heat: plan outdoor time before 10:00 or after 16:30, and carry water for kids at all times.
  • Malls (Majestic City, Liberty Plaza, One Galle Face) are the rain- or heat-day fallback with AC and food courts.
  • Ride-hailing cars rarely have child seats: ask the hotel to arrange a car with one, or bring a travel booster.
