Cayo is one base and several guided excursions. Moving hotels every night between the town, the lodges and the sites wastes the mornings; keep the San Ignacio room, take a day pack, and come back to the same bed. The district is inland and hot: go out early, rest at midday, and leave two hours of road for the airport.
