Cassadaga
Go for a half day: readings, the bookstore and a walk between the parks. Two hours is enough; sleep in DeLand or Daytona Beach, not here.
Cassadaga is a small unincorporated community in west Volusia County, between Deltona and Lake Helen, built around the Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp founded in 1894. It is known for camp-certified mediums and healers, and most visitors come for a reading, the bookstore and a short walk. There is one hotel and one cafe, so it works as a stop on an I-4 day, not a base.

Get around
A car is the only practical way in and out: from I-4 take Exit 114, then Highway 472 toward Orange City/DeLand, right onto Dr. Martin Luther King Parkway, then right onto Cassadaga Road (County Route 4139) and follow it about 1.5 mi to Stevens Street. Inside the village you walk: the camp, the hotel, the bookstore and the parks sit within a few blocks of each other.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake and 'hi, how are you?' — reply 'good, thanks'; avoid: Treating the question as a real health enquiry
- Restaurants: Tip 18–22% and wait for the check; avoid: Leaving without tipping
- Personal space: Keep an arm's length in queues; avoid: Standing close to strangers
- Politics and religion: Listen more than you speak; avoid: Opening with hot-button topics
- Smoking: Smoke only in marked areas; avoid: Smoking near doors or in parks where banned
Scams and watch-outs
- No public transport reaches the village; without a car you cannot get here.
- Readings are paid sessions booked through camp-certified mediums — confirm the price and length before you sit down, and treat the camp's rules with respect; this is a practising religious community, not a show.
- Do not sleep in your car or overnight in the village without a booking.
- Summer afternoons bring heavy thunderstorms, and the area is in hurricane season from June to November.
Very low street crime in a tiny village; the real issues are heat, summer storms and driving on I-4. Do not sleep in your car, and do not wander the camp after dark expecting it to be a tourist attraction — it is a residential religious community.
