The Carmel is a compact ridge of forested hills between the coastal plain and the Jezreel Valley, roughly 30–45 minutes by car from Haifa to Zikhron Ya'akov. Most travellers see it as a day loop out of Haifa or a one-night stop on the Tel Aviv–Haifa road. Sleep in Haifa for city beds and trains, in Zikhron Ya'akov for a quieter base with wineries and easy road access.
