Practical tips
Book the cableway and the Robben Island ferry online; both are weather-dependent and both fill up in the October–April season. If the mountain is clear on your first day, go up that day rather than saving it.
A car or rideshare makes the Peninsula and Winelands far easier; the train works for Kalk Bay and Simon's Town in daylight but is not a late-night option. Carry a card for tolls and parking.
For dinner, the Atlantic seaboard (Camps Bay) is the sunset side; Kalk Bay and the False Bay coast are quieter and better value. Reserve on weekends and in December–January.
