Calipatria is the lowest city in the western hemisphere, a small desert town in Imperial County. Its main draws are the nearby Salton Sea, Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge, and Glamis Sand Dunes. Most travellers pass through on the way to El Centro or Palm Springs.
