Caburé
Skip Caburé as a base for Lençóis Maranhenses: the river crossing to Atins takes 45 min and costs R$45. Use Atins or Barreirinhas instead.
Caburé is a tiny hamlet between the river and the sea, with a handful of pousadas and no scheduled transport. Day-trippers flood in mid-morning and leave by early afternoon. Its only practical use is as a stop on the 4x4 route from Jericoacoara to Atins, but even then you cross the river to sleep in Atins.
