Give Bydgoszcz 1–2 nights as a stop between Poznań and Gdańsk: riverside Old Town, Mill Island and the Exploseum, not a whole holiday.
Bydgoszcz is Poland's eighth-largest city, split by the Brda river into a medieval Old Town on the south bank and a 19th-century centre on the north. It kept its 19th-century architecture through the wars, so the draw is the riverside walk, Mill Island's museums and the music halls, not a single headline sight. Most travellers pass through on the Poznań–Gdańsk rail line; one night covers the centre, two adds the Exploseum and Myślęcinek.
