Buscalan
Buscalan is a 2–3 day detour for a traditional Kalinga tattoo from Apo Whang Od and a glimpse of remote Cordillera life. Not a casual stop.
Buscalan is a tiny mountain village in Kalinga, Luzon Cordilleras, home of the Butbut tribe and Apo Whang Od, the last traditional mambabatok (tattoo artist). The trip involves a 1.5-hour trek from the nearest road, homestay accommodation, and a deep cultural experience. Most visitors come for the tattoo and leave after one night.

- The trek is steep and can be muddy; wear sturdy shoes and bring a jacket for cool evenings.
- Apo Whang Od is elderly; tattoos take time and patience. Other villagers also offer traditional tattoos.
