September is the first true spring month in Brisbane. Days are warm without the humidity of summer, and the city sits in one of its drier stretches of the year. Expect roughly 24 °C by day and 13 °C at night, with about 8–9 hours of sunshine and 6–8 rain days across the month.

The main variable is wind and afternoon cloud. Mornings are often clear and cool, afternoons can build to a brief shower, and evenings cool down quickly enough that a light jacket helps. UV is already strong — sunscreen matters even on overcast days.

Because Brisbane sits in the subtropics, September weather is more stable than the summer storm season that starts around November. It is a good month for outdoor plans, though a changeable day is still possible.

September is a shoulder month in Brisbane. Crowds are moderate: the summer school-holiday peak is still months away, but Queensland school holidays can fall in late September or early October, which lifts family demand for a week or two. Check your dates against the state school calendar before booking.

Further afield, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are both within about 90 minutes by car or train, and September is a good month for either before the summer crowds arrive.

If you have more time, the Scenic Rim and the Granite Belt are pleasant in spring, and whale-watching season along the Queensland coast typically runs into October.

August is cooler and drier, with the Ekka usually in full swing. October warms up and is still comfortable, though humidity starts to build late in the month. November turns hotter and more humid, with the first storms of the season.
