Bornholm is a 588 km² Baltic island 37 km off Sweden: granite cliffs in the north, white sand at Dueodde in the south, round churches and smokehouses in between. The longest ride is about 36 km, so a bike covers the island in 2–3 days. Sleep in one town and day-trip the rest; ferries and the airport both land near Rønne.

Bornholm is closer to Sweden, Poland and Germany than to the rest of Denmark — a Copenhagen-only ticket does not cover it.
Outside towns there are few marked bus stops; you flag the bus down and ask the driver to stop.
Car ferry fares run far higher than foot-passenger fares; price the crossing before deciding to bring a car.

Bornholm: June–September is the season; Svaneke claims the most sunshine hours in Northern Europe. July–August is peak for Scandinavian, German and Polish visitors — book beds and bikes ahead.

Shoulder months (May, September) keep the light and cut the crowds; winter ferries run but many smokehouses and workshops close.
