Bonny Island is an island town and the seat of the Kingdom of Bonny, at the mouth of the Bight of Bonny in Rivers State. It is an industrial island first: Bonny Light crude is piped here for export and the country's largest LNG plant sits on it. Visitors come for work, for the Finima nature reserve and beaches, or for the December festivals. Sights are few and spread out, so one night covers it unless a festival is on.

The island is reached by speedboat from Port Harcourt, about 1 h, and ferries also run. On the island you move by shared taxi, keke or okada; there is no useful bus network for visitors. Agree the fare before you get in, and keep a driver's number for the return to the jetty.
