Bogor sits 60 km south of Jakarta at 290 m, so it runs cooler than the capital and is the classic weekend escape for Jakartans. The Botanical Gardens, the presidential palace grounds and the colonial hill-town core are the draw; most visitors come as a day trip from Jakarta or as a stop on the way to Puncak and Bandung. Traffic is heavy and rain is frequent, so plan mornings outdoors.

Getting around
Angkot minibuses cover central streets for a flat Rp2,000 paid on exit, but they are slow, often fill before departing and theft is reported. Blue Bird taxis and Gojek/Grab cars are more comfortable; allow extra time in the daily jam. Walking works for the Juanda corridor and gardens, but riverside lanes are fragmented — ask locally for current access.
