Practical tips
Book a table for Friday and Saturday. Skadarlija and the Dorćol kafanas fill early, and walk-ins get the smoking side or nothing. A reservation also lets you ask for a quieter corner.
Dress for the season. Belgrade winters are cold and windy on the fortress, and summers are hot until late evening. A light jacket helps on river cruises even in July.
On the splavs, agree the taxi fare or use an app, keep an eye on your bag in crowds, and expect the music to be loud rather than conversational. If you want a quiet drink, choose a kafana instead.
