The detail
The Aerobús is the simplest option for a first visit. Buses leave from outside both terminals for Plaça de Catalunya, with stops at Gran Via and Universitat on the way. Buy at the machine or by card at the stop, or on board. It runs around the clock, roughly every 5–10 minutes by day and every 20 minutes overnight.
- Rodalies R2 Nord: from T2 station, stops at El Prat, Sants, Passeig de Gràcia and Clot. Buy a normal Rodalies ticket; the airport surcharge is small. Trains run from about 05:00 to midnight (check).
- Metro L9 Sud: useful if your hotel is near the line, otherwise slow. You need a special airport ticket, and the change at Torrassa or Collblanc adds steps with bags.
- Taxi: official black-and-yellow cars wait at marked ranks outside both terminals. Fares are metered with fixed airport supplements; ignore anyone inside the hall offering a ride.
- Ride-hailing: pickup points are designated and can be awkward at T1; the taxi rank is usually faster.
- Trains to other cities: if you are heading straight to Madrid, Girona or Figueres, Sants is the station to reach first — the R2 Nord stops there.
