The big variable is a car and driver: a day out to Gobustan and the mud volcanoes, or up to Lahic, costs AZN 100–200 and sits on top of the transport line. Baku sets the ceiling. Hotel rates in the centre are the single biggest cost and they move with the calendar: during the F1 Grand Prix and other major events, room prices surge. If your dates are fixed around an event, book early or stay outside the centre and use the metro.
