Give Adoor one night as a temple-town stop between Kollam and Pathanamthitta, not a destination: two nights only if a festival date pulls you in.
Adoor is a mid-sized market town in Kerala's Central Travancore belt, on the Kottayam–Thiruvananthapuram road about 100 km from the state capital. It is not a sightseeing town: the draw is a cluster of old Devi and Mahadevar temples within 10 km, a busy KSRTC bus stand that reaches most of Kerala, and cheap, plain lodging. Most travellers pass through on the way to Pathanamthitta, the backwater belt or the Sabarimala pilgrimage route; a single night is enough to see the main temple and eat well.

The town is small enough to walk: the government bus stand to the private bus stand is about 10 minutes on foot, and Parthasarathy Temple is 2 minutes from the government stand. Auto-rickshaws wait at the Central Bus Stand; expect a minimum charge of about ₹10 and roughly ₹8 per km by day, ₹10 per km at night (2026 estimate, check the meter or agree the fare first). KSRTC and private buses run to Kayamkulam, Kottarakkara, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kollam and Ernakulam; a KSRTC Scania service also runs to Bengaluru.
