Skip Abuyog unless you are driving the Leyte coastal road and need a lunch or fuel stop: the town itself has no major sight, but Kuapnit Balinsasayao National Park is a 30-min detour south.

Abuyog is a small municipality on Leyte's east coast, best known for Kuapnit Balinsasayao National Park — a lowland forest with waterfalls and birdwatching. The town centre is a brief stop for supplies or a meal. Most travellers pass through on the way between Tacloban and Baybay or Maasin.
