Zwickau
Give Zwickau one full day: old town on foot in the morning, August Horch Museum in the afternoon. Sleep one night, or base in Chemnitz or Leipzig and come by train.
Zwickau is a compact Saxon town of about 90,000 with a medieval core, a car-making past (Horch, Audi, Trabant) and a Volkswagen plant that still builds cars. The old town is walkable in two hours; the August Horch Museum is the reason most visitors come. It works as a day trip from Chemnitz, Leipzig or Dresden, or as one night on a Saxony loop.

Scams and watch-outs
- The August Horch Museum closes on Mondays; last entry is 30 min before closing.

- Volkswagen plant tours need a booked appointment, groups of 10–25, minimum age 14.
- Sunday shopping is limited; plan food and supplies for Sunday.
Zwickau is a calm, ordinary German town; the usual city rules apply. Watch for bicycles on shared paths, keep to lit streets around the station at night, and carry some cash as smaller places may not take cards.
