Zaouiat Ahansal
A remote High Atlas mountain town for a 2-night stay if you want quiet valley walks and Berber culture; skip if you have fewer than 3 days in the region.
Zaouiat Ahansal is a small Berber town in the High Atlas, founded in the 13th century by the scholar Sidi Said Ahansal. It sits at about 1,800 m elevation and offers straightforward valley walks, a rock cathedral formation, and a look at Aït Atta tribal life. Most travellers use it as a quiet stop between Marrakech and the Todra Gorge or Tinerhir, not as a base for Toubkal.
