Zamboanga City sits at the southern tip of the Zamboanga Peninsula, a port city of about a million people where Chavacano, a Spanish-based creole, is the street language. - Heavy rain Jun–Oct can cancel island boat trips.
Downtown Zamboanga is busy and generally calm by day, but the wider peninsula and the Sulu Sea carry a real security advisory: check your government's current guidance, avoid night travel by road, and use the airport or the main port rather than remote jetties.
