Zagreb
Zagreb is a morning-and-terrace city: the Upper Town and Dolac market before noon, a long lunch, and the park squares and Tkalčićeva street once the day cools.
Zagreb's centre is small and split in two by a slope: the Upper Town on the hill, the Lower Town on the flat. The trips that go wrong climb the hill with bags, plan the market for the afternoon after it closes, or add Plitvice as a rushed day trip.
