Yorkton
Give Yorkton one night, two at most: it is a farm-service town on the Yellowhead Highway, not a sightseeing base. Come for the museum, the murals and a prairie stopover.
Yorkton is a city of about 16,000 people in East Central Saskatchewan, 190 km northeast of Regina on Highway 10 and 330 km southeast of Saskatoon on Highway 16. It grew as a settlers' colony on the Little Whitesand River and later moved to the rail line; today it serves the surrounding farmland. Sights are few and close together, so a single night covers the centre, and a second night only pays off if you are here for a festival or a golf weekend.
