York, South Carolina
York
Give York half a day on a car loop out of Rock Hill or Charlotte: downtown historic block, a show at the Sylvia, then drive on. Sleep elsewhere.
York is a small county seat in the Olde English District, about 30 minutes southwest of Rock Hill and under an hour from Charlotte. The draw is a compact 1800s downtown, a restored 1930s movie theatre and farm stands on the highways out of town. There is no hotel in the town itself, so most visitors base in Rock Hill or Fort Mill and come through for an afternoon.
