Yarmouth is a mid-Cape town of four villages — Yarmouth Port on the north side, West and South Yarmouth on Route 28, and Bass River on the east. It is a beach-and-base town rather than a sight town: you sleep here, drive 10–20 minutes to Hyannis, Dennis or Barnstable, and use Route 6 to reach the rest of the Cape. Two or three nights covers the beaches, the boardwalk and the historic north side.

Get around
A car is the practical choice: Route 6 runs the length of the Cape, Route 28 serves the south side and Route 6A the north. The CCRTA (Breeze) bus runs seasonal routes along Route 28 and to Hyannis; check current timetables. Parking at most town beaches needs a Town of Yarmouth beach pass from June to Labor Day; after Labor Day parking is free and lifeguards stop.
