Wyndham is a small port town at the head of Cambridge Gulf, about 100 km from Kununurra by sealed road and more than 3,000 km from Perth. It is the Kimberley's oldest settlement, built on gold, cattle and the meatworks, and today it is a working port with a handful of lookouts, cemeteries and a museum. Most travellers use it as a half-day detour from Kununurra, or as a stop on the way to the Gibb River Road. The town has no mobile signal and no free-standing pub, so plan fuel, food and cash before you arrive.
