Woodstock is a town of about 5,200 on the Saint John River, 72 km west of Fredericton and the oldest incorporated town in New Brunswick. It sits on the Trans-Canada Highway and on the I-95 corridor from Maine, so most travellers meet it as a break in a drive rather than a destination. The historic downtown, two riverside rivers, the Meduxnekeag trails and a long covered bridge fill a comfortable half-day.

Get around
No public transit in town. You need a car, a bicycle or your feet; taxis cover short hops and a town run is about $5. The Trans-Canada Highway passes through with several exits, and I-95 from Maine joins it at Woodstock.
