Wondo Genet
Half a day to one night: soak in the hot springs and hike the forest. Not a base for the south — use Hawassa or Arba Minch instead.
Wondo Genet is a small resort town 15 km south of Shashamene in Southern Ethiopia, known for its hot springs and forest hikes. Most travellers stop for a few hours on the way between Addis Ababa and the Rift Valley lakes or the Omo Valley. One night is enough to enjoy the springs and a short walk; longer stays are for slow travellers who want to rest.
