Wolfratshausen
Half a day: see the old town and castle ruins, then a raft trip to Munich in season. Not a base.
Wolfratshausen is a small Upper Bavarian town at the confluence of the Loisach and Isar, best known for its historic rafting trade. The main draw is a wooden-raft trip down the Isar to Munich (May–Sep). The town itself has a Baroque church, a city hall and castle ruins, enough for a short stop between Munich and the Alps.
