Winnipeg Beach is a small lakeside resort town on the southwestern shore of Lake Winnipeg, about 56 km north of Winnipeg. It was built by the CPR in 1900 as a weekend escape from the city, and today it is a beach, a boardwalk, a campground and a handful of places to eat. One day covers it; one night makes the drive worthwhile. There is no bus, so a car is the practical way in.
