Westhill

Westhill is a greenfield commuter and industrial town built from 1968, seven miles west of Aberdeen, population about 12,100. There is little to see in the town itself, but Bronze Age stone circles, Castle Fraser and the Dee valley sit within a short drive, and Aberdeen Airport is six miles north. It works as a cheaper bed for the airport or a car-based stop, not as a destination.

The town is small enough to walk. Stagecoach Bluebird buses 4/5/6/6a run from Aberdeen Union Square to Westhill in about 45 min, every 10 min Mon–Sat and every 30 min Sunday; bus 218 continues to Alford Mon–Sat about every 3 hours. Buses loop Westhill Drive, Old Skene Road, Wellgrove Road and Straik Road. For Castle Fraser and the stone circles you need your own wheels or a taxi.
